  4. Community Planting Day

    Do you enjoy the gorgeous flower boxes on the Mill Street Bridge each summer? The Beautification Committee is looking for volunteers to help plant flowers in the flower boxes that line the Mill Street Bridge on Saturday, May 16th. Families and flower lovers of all ages are invited to meet in Montgomery Park at the corner of River and Mill Streets at 9:00 a.m. to help with this annual project.

  5. Paper Shredding, Electronics Recycling and More!

    May 16, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Police Department

    Bring up to 2 banker boxes of confidential documents for shredding. Drop off items for recycling! Items accepted are electronics of all types (includes anything that plugs in), metal, and batteries of all types. Not accepted: tires, lightbulbs and paint.

  6. Settlers Cottage Museum Open

    May 17, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM @ Settlers Cottage Museum

    Settler’s Cottage, Montgomery’s historical museum, will be reopening on Sunday, May 17th for the summer season. On May 17th the museum will be open from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Then from June to October, Settler’s Cottage will be open on the first and third Sundays of each month, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Visitors are invited to learn more about Montgomery’s rich history in this restored 1840s home, located in front of the Village Hall at 200 N. River Street. Exhibits include the Civil War (did you know we had a Civil War camp in Montgomery?), early businesses, recreation in the early 1900’s, the newly discovered 1851 Gray Family Bible, the sheep yards, the early history of Montgomery, and many others. The museum is free and is handicapped accessible. If you have any historic photos or memorabilia that you are willing to share, please contact Debbie Buchanan at 630-896-8080 ext. 1114.
