  2. Settlers Cottage Museum Open

    Settler’s Cottage, Montgomery’s historical museum has reopened for the summer. From June to October, Settler’s Cottage will be open on the first and third Sundays of each month, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Visitors are invited to learn more about Montgomery’s rich history in this restored 1840s home, located in front of the Village Hall at 200 N. River Street. Exhibits include the Civil War (did you know we had a Civil War camp in Montgomery?), early businesses, recreation in the early 1900’s, the newly discovered 1851 Gray Family Bible, the sheep yards, the early history of Montgomery, and many others. The museum is free and is handicapped accessible. If you have any historic photos or memorabilia that you are willing to share, please contact Debbie Buchanan at 630-896-8080 ext. 1114.

    Midwest Museum of Natural History will discuss museum exhibits and the kinds of programming they offer, ranging from field trips and dissections to lectures and special events. A highlight of the presentation will be live animals from the museum, including a three-toed box turtle, bearded dragon, and ball python. If he’s up to it, Hercules the sulcata tortoise may visit as well!

  8. Electronics Recycling and More!

    July 18, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Police Department

    Drop off items for recycling! Items accepted are electronics of all types (includes anything that plugs in, except tube TVs), metal, and batteries of all types. Please note that due to an overwhelming amount of tube TVs that have been dropped off, the recycler has temporarily stopped accepting old tube TVs, including projection and console TVs, until further notice. Not accepted: tires, lightbulbs and paint.

  9. Montgomery Fest Talent Show Auditions

    July 18, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Village Hall Multi-Purpose Room

    If you can sing, dance, act, do ventriloquism or magic, perform in a skit, or tell jokes, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! The “Montgomery’s Got Talent” show is back and people of all ages are invited to try out for the show. Don’t miss this chance to participate in this collection of the area’s most talented individuals! Auditions are being held Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River Street. A panel will select performers to be featured at the Montgomery Fest Talent show to be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. on the Montgomery Fest Main Stage. Performers do not need to be Montgomery residents in order to try out. More information on Montgomery Fest and registration forms are available on the Village’s website or the link below.
