| Settler's Cottage Restoration
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is working to restore an 1840s home in downtown Montgomery to use as a local archive and museum. The home, called Settler's Cottage, is located at 198 N. River Street (at the intersection of River and the former Clinton Street) across from the VFW . This house is the oldest remaining structure in the Village and was originally owned by Daniel S. Gray, the founder of Montgomery. The HPC has been seeking grants and conducting fundraising activities to pay for the restoration of this building.
