The Village of Montgomery, through their contractor Allied Waste Services, provides waste collection and recycling services to Village residents. As part of the service agreement with Allied Waste, the Village is able to offer a special “Senior Option” program to residents 65 and older in which they may purchase special “blue bags” to use for waste disposal in lieu of paying the monthly garbage fee. This may provide a less expensive option for seniors who dispose of limited amounts of trash. Seniors who require yard waste pickup or want to use regular trash cans or bags should use the regular waste collection service rather than the Senior Program.
The Village encourages all seniors to evaluate their waste removal needs. Those
who would like to utilize the Senior Program must use the special blue bags available at the Village Hall. If individuals previously enrolled in the Senior Program feel that the blue bags do not meet their needs and would like to receive regular trash and yard waste removal service, they must contact the Village’s utility billing clerk at (630) 896-1357 to change their service level.
Due to certain contractual provisions, Allied Waste will not remove or empty any trash containers other than the blue bags for addresses that are enrolled in the Senior Option. All Village residents may continue to participate in the curbside recycling program, regardless of their service level option. For more information on the Senior Program, please call (630) 896-1357.
