Leaf Collection 2018
The 2018 Leaf Collection Program will take place in October and November. Crews will make one pass through the Village during the following weeks: October 29th, November 5th, and November 13th (November 12th is a Village Holiday, therefore no leaf collection will take place on Monday, November 12th). Additional
pickups will continue as needed until the end of November. Grass
clippings, sticks, twigs and other debris cannot be collected by the leaf
vac. Placement of foreign debris in the leaf piles will result in the
crew skipping your address.
Additionally, crews cannot vacuum leaves that
are within 10’ of a tree, mailbox, fire hydrant, street light, street sign,
etc. Do not park cars in front of the leaves to be collected, as our leaf
vacuum will not be able to reach them.
Leaves for bulk pick-up must be placed on the parkway in front of
the property from which they originate, so please do not rake leaves into the
street or onto other lots.
The
Village’s refuse hauler, LRS/DC Trash, will also pick up leaves each week on
your regularly scheduled collection day for no additional charge. There
are no stickers needed, however, you will need to put the leaves in yard waste
bags or clearly marked 32-gallon yard waste cans with two handles. Bags
must be placed at the curb no earlier than 5:00 p.m. the night before your
scheduled collection.
Instead of disposing of leaves, you might consider mulching
them with a lawn mower. Mowing is
generally less labor intensive than raking and it provides additional nutrients
to your lawn and landscape. Leaf mulch
can be left on the lawn or added to landscaped areas for a healthy boost to
next seasons growth. Furthermore, you
can fold leaf mulch into gardens and flower beds as a great source of natural
fertilizer.
Please remember—leaf burning is prohibited by Village
ordinance.
Leaf burning is prohibited by village ordinance (Village of Montgomery Code, Section 12-27). It is also important to remember that leaves must be placed on the parkway in front of the property from which they originate (Village of Montgomery Code,
Section 9-45), so please do not rake leaves into the street or onto other lots.
