The
Village Manager is appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve
as the administrative head of the municipal government and to
be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of all
departments. This frees the Board and Village President to focus
on matters of policy of importance to the citizens of the Village
of Montgomery.
Duties
delegated to the Village Manager are as follows:
- Enforce
the laws and ordinances within the Village
- Exercise
control over daily operations of all departments
- Appoint
and remove all department heads and employees (except sworn
officers)
- Supervise
and direct all department heads
- Attend
all open meetings of the Board of Trustees, with the right
to participate in discussions, but with no right to vote
- Make
recommendations to the Board of Trustees
- Ensure
the efficient operation of all Village services and functions
