Welcome
to the Montgomery Police Department web page! The men and women
of the Police Department work hard each day to provide professional
service, demonstrate their community pride, and maintain
public safety throughout our community.
The
Police Department currently consists of five (5) divisions that
are responsible for providing specific services. Four of the
divisions are supervised by a Police Sergeant, while Support
Services is headed by a civilian.
- Field
Services - Patrol,training
for new Police Officers, and the scheduling/hiring of off-duty
Officers for special events.
- Special
Services - Traffic and parking
issues, evidence/property storage, police vehicles/equipment,
and community functions including Block
Parties, Neighborhood Garage Sales, Montgomery
Fest, and Christmas Tree Lighting.
In
order to meet the policing challenges of the 21st century, Village
officials authorized the construction of a new
police station on part of a 29.2 acre parcel of land located
on the north side of Route 30 at the intersection of Griffin
Drive. Construction began in 2003 and the facility was completed
in July 2005.
In
2005, the Village contracted with Northwestern University's
Center for Public Safety to perform a Traffic
Stop Statistical Study. The Village of Montgomery supports
all efforts to eliminate discriminatory practices in government
operations, including racial profiling in traffic stops. For
the Village's statement on this issue, please click
