Oriented Policing (C.O.P.)
Community
Oriented Policing (C.O.P.) includes programs such as Crime Prevention,
Beat Auto Theft (BAT), Neighborhood
Watch, National Night Out, Operation
We Care, D.A.R.E., TRIAD,
and Vacation Checks. Other programs offered
are Child Safety Seat Identification Stickers
(CHAD), Residents on Radar, and child
safety seat inspections.
Educating
the community is one of the primary goals of the Community Policing
Unit. The Police Department has free informational brochures
on a wide variety of topics available in their lobby. Topics
range from Proper Car Seat Installation to Drug Identification
to Halloween Safety Tips.
The
Police Department plans to continue expanding its commitment
to Community Policing. This
program will eventually incorporate all of the Village of Montgomery.
