The Village of Montgomery Public Works staff is responsible for maintaining all infrastructure improvements within the Village, including streets, water collection and distribution pipes, storm and sanitary sewer lines, drinking water wells and pumping equipment, village-owned property and buildings, street lighting, traffic signals and signs, and water treatment facilities. In addition, Public Works provides ongoing public services such as brush pick-up and disposal, leaf pick-up, snow plowing, mosquito control, and right-of-way tree maintenance.

The Director of Public Works oversees the operations of the department, assisted by the Streets Supervisor and the Water Plant Supervisor. Maintenance workers in the department divide their time between the Streets and Water Divisions.

The Streets Division concentrates on maintaining and repairing infrastructure improvements. Typical duties include street repairs, grounds maintenance, snow and ice removal, brush and leaf pick-up, storm sewer and sanitary sewer main repairs, tree trimming, mosquito control, water main break repairs, and water-related customer service.

The Water Division operates the water treatment plant and monitors water quality. The Village's Water Treatment staff is certified by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and is responsible for potable water supply, treatment, distribution and quality testing.
