Garbage & Recycling
LRS provides a 95-gallon trash cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart to each home. When putting out your trash you must use your provided trash cart and/or recycling cart first and then any additional items may be placed out alongside your trash or recycling cart in the appropriate bags or clearly marked containers. To report a missed pick-up or to request a different size cart, please email LRS Systems or call 844-633-3577. Requests for different size containers may incur a fee from DC Recycling Systems.
Available cart sizes are 95 gallons, 65 gallons, and 35 gallons.

35 gallon--18 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 36 inches high
65 gallon--24 inches wide, 28 inches deep, 42 inches high
95 gallon--27 inches wide, 35 inches deep, 45 inches high

Under this contract, LRS (formerly DC Trash) will pick up unlimited garbage and recycling each week. You must use your supplied trash or recycle cart first and then place additional garbage out alongside your cart provided in the appropriate bags or marked containers. Loose piles of waste will not be collected.

BRUSH & YARD WASTE
Unlimited tied bundles of brush and bags of yard waste can be disposed of each week from April 1 through the end of November. There is no need for stickers ever! Residents must tie bundles with just twine (not wire). They should not exceed 2' wide by 2' high and cannot exceed 4' in length. Each bundle must not exceed 50 pounds. In addition, residents can put out an unlimited number of yard waste bags and properly bundled brush piles each week for no additional charge.
LARGE, BULK ITEM COLLECTION | Advance 48-hour notice preferred
LRS collects one (1) large item weekly*. Call to schedule for collection daY.
- Appliance or White Item - Washer, dryer, dishwasher, air conditioner, stove, refrigerator, dehumidifier, etc.
• Carpet - 4' (four foot) rolls not to exceed 50 pounds. Eight (8) rolls of carpet are considered one large item.
• Mattresses and Box Springs – Must be enclosed in a plastic mattress cover or wholly covered in plastic for health and safety reasons. Plastic mattress covers are available at hardware stores and other retail outlets such as Walmart, Target, Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, and storage facilities.
* One item allowed per week. Additional large items are $20 each (some exceptions apply). Please reserve with LRS directly by calling 844-NEED-LRS.

2022 COLLECTION RATES
The monthly rate for August 1, 2021, through July 31, 2022, is $18.52 per household.
A limited number of senior household garbage discount rates are available through LRS. To join the waitlist or find out more information about the program, contact the Utility Billing Department located at Village Hall.

LRS is the exclusive provider of residential waste collection for the Village of Montgomery. This applies to all residential addresses in the Village but excludes Boulder Hill and other unincorporated areas. View the Village garbage map HERE. Boulder Hill residents must select their independent refuse hauler. Contact Oswego Township for a list of preferred providers.
The Kane County Recycles Green Guide provides valuable information on area recycling opportunities. County-wide recycling centers are open to all Montgomery residents (Kane and Kendall County). Still, some other services are available only for specific cities, so read the details carefully.
Curbside Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Waste Program
LRS offers Montgomery residents home collection services for Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste. Click to view the Brochure, Request Dates, and Program Details. These are two different services, and they are offered at various times throughout the year. Quarterly events will no longer be held at Montgomery Public Works for Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste. To request a curbside pickup of Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste, contact LRS directly.
Questions? Missed Pickup?
Only six holidays are observed by LRS: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When a holiday falls on a Sunday or weekday, LRS will collect the following day for the rest of that week.
